Warmahordes Legion of Everblight Blighted Ogrun Warmongers unit review

Hey guys, I'm back.  It's a new year and time to make sure that the momentum isn't lost, so I'm going to jump straight into continuing the Legion of Everblight unit reviews.

We're going to start the year with a unit that is one of the most dominating on the tabletop, Blighted Ogrun Warmongers.

Whatever you do with this unit, it's going to attract attention. They look like they are going to chew up any unit they meet and spit them out the other side, and they have a fair chance of doing it.

Warmongers are not going to win a SPD contest, compared to large part of the legion force they are going to be dragging their nuckles at a lowly SPD 5, but get them a bit closer, use them with a unit that can lure in a charge to get it into range of the Warmongers, and on the charge, they will hurt.

They have a MAT 7, POW 14 reach weapon on a medium base, they have the potential to cover a huge area with attacks, and with Berserk, they have the ability to turn that area into a meat grinder for units with low ARM or damage, and also kill each other, their 8 damage boxes and ARM 16 should at least stop them killing each other.

Against high arm, multiple damage units, they are going to struggle if they do not get the charge, they just don't have the numbers to do the damage required to make it work.

One thing that you need to keep in mind with a unit like Warmongers is that they are easy to hit without a spell to reduce enemy RAT/MAT, or the DEF of the Warmongers, as it stands at a lowly 12, so that ARM of 16 and 8 damage boxes are going to be needed it they are going to survive the charge, and units with weapon master are going to cut through them at a scary pace (I charged a unit with Swordsmen with UA, and they didn't last the round) so they are not going to hang around the same way Man-O-War do.  For a unit that costs 5 and 8 points, it makes them a hard choice compared to Swordsman.

I find Warmongers to be a bit of a mixed unit, and have to admit I don't use them, they look great, visually they are stunning and dominating, but on the table, the look does not match the performance on table for me.

That's it for this week, I know this article is a bit of a downer on Warmongers game wise, and if I have this wrong then let me know in the comments below, I make sure I read the comments and will always work hard to find the time to respond.

Hope you all have a great New Year
